Rachel Dolezal, 39, made news in 2015. At the time, she was the President of NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) Chapter in Spokane, Washington, USA,
All through her career- spanning over 17 years, she had claimed she was black and said she had been a victim of racism, hate crimes, and discrimination. However, in a 2015 interview on a local TV station where she claimed her and her sons were the victims of a hate crime, the reporter confronted her with a photo of her white father. He asked her if she was African-American to which she replied; “I don’t understand the question.”
Later, her parents outed her as a fraud and went public with her birth certificate including an ancestral proof that they were infact Czech, Swedish and German, with only ‘faint traces’ of Native American heritage.
Following the scandal, Dolezal who was a part-time professor of African Studies at Eastern Washington University was forced to step down from her all her public positions.
Today, the woman formally known as Rachel Dolezal has officially taken up a full African name, Nkechi Amare Diallo.
“Rachel’s parents had said that they are Czech, Swedish and German, with only ‘faint traces’ of Native American heritage.”
If a biracial man like Obama with more than faint traces of ‘whiteness’ cannot claim to be white why should Ms Nkechi be free to identify as black just because she wants to?” one reader asked.
“This woman takes the cake after Caitlyn Jenner. The amount of skin tanning n contouring she goes through on a daily …must be hard girl. I think she should take the reality tv gig, that way us blacks can see a bit of her ‘black personality’.
She researched well o; Nkechi Amare…strong names, now she’s Caucasian, Nigerian, Ethiopian,” Mahka says.
