Sudanese woman appeals ‘apostasy’ death sentence

Meriam Ibrahim, the 27 year old Sudanese woman currently facing a death penalty as well as 100 lashes for apostasy has appealed the verdict. Her defence lawyer, Eman Abdel-Rahim told newsmen from the Associated press, that the appeal demands her client’s release because the court that tried her committed “procedural errors”. Sarkodie, Sauti Sol, Dr Sid, Khuli Chana join the list of performers at this weekend’s MTV Africa Music Awards

Several artistes have been added to the red hot line-up of artistes billed to perform at the MTV Base Africa Music Awards (MAMA) on the 7th of June 2014, MTV Base reveals. The additions include Kenya’s Sauti Sol, Ghana’s Sarkodie, South Africa’s The Arrows and Khuli Chana as well as Nigeria’s Dr Sid. Previously announced performers include French Montana, Miguel, Trey Songz, Davido, Uhuru, Mafikizolo, Oskido, Professor, Tiwa Savage, Flavour, Diamond, Wizkid, Phyno and Yuri da Cunha.
