World Cup: ”Drop Mikel, Keep Yobo”, Soccer fans tell Coach Keshi

by Simi George

If only Keshi would surf the internet before the match and search for articles related to the Super Eagles match today, then he would probably get to see the opinions of football fans concerning his formation for this evening’s game.

In a recent survey by Vanguard online, fans were asked if Keshi should drop Mikel from the starting XI. Approximately 53 percent of participants want Mikel to be withdrawn from the starting XI while 47 percent wanted the man that was hailed as Nigeria’s best during the Confederation Cup in Brazil to start the game.

Mikel was voted ‘The Man of The Match’ in Nigeria’s first match at Brazil 2014 against Iran with credit for over 94 passes during the encounter. Apparently, most of the respondents wanted skipper Joseph Yobo to retain his starting spot in the team following his performance against Argentina.

John Mikel has come under heavy criticism of late, with fans taking shots at him while some football pundits also labelled him the weak link in the Super Eagles.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed and see what happens, as the match begins in just a few hours.
