Ethiopia: Eritrean troops have started to evacuate Tigray
The Ethiopian Government has disclosed that military troops from neighbouring Eritrea have “started to evacuate” the conflict-hit Tigray region that is situated between the two East African states – Africa News reports
This came about after Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed acknowledging their presence amid mounting reports of massacres and widespread sexual violence.

Somalia: Suicide bomber kills five in Mogadishu tea shop attack
According to a police report, five civilians, including a child, have been killed as a suicide bomber detonated himself at a tea shop in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu – Aljazeera Africa reports
Police spokesman, Sadiq Dudishe, in a statement, said, “Around 7 pm (16:00 GMT) in the evening, a suicide bomber detonated himself at a tea shop frequented by the youth. Six people, four of them youth, a child, and the suicide bomber died in the blast. Four others were wounded.”
Nigeria: We’ll reopen talks with striking doctors
Nigeria’s Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, on Sunday asserted that the Federal Government will soon engage the leadership of the striking National Association of Resident Doctors in a bid to put an end to the ongoing strike – The Punch reports
According to the minister, the purpose of the talk is to give striking doctors a chance to explain to the government team the aspects of the memorandum of action they signed on Thursday which they did not agree with.
The minister said, “We have not reached there (no-work-no-pay option). I said so earlier. We are going to have a formal meeting with them so that they will let us know the areas of the memorandum of action they signed that they do not agree with.” The meeting is said to hold next week.
Mozambique: Mozambican Armed Forces Secure Palma Airstrip
The Mozambican armed forces (FADM), Saturday, 3rd April, took full control of the aerodrome in the small town of Palma – All Africa reports
Palma came under attack in March when Islamist terrorists linked to the self-styled “Islamic State”. The Mozambican defence and security forces, however, put up stiff resistance and say they are driving the terrorists out of the town, house by house.
