Mali: President, Prime Minister detained by military
Malian soldiers have taken the president and the prime minister in detention over their unhappiness with the new government as a coup seems on the way – Africa News reports
The military disclosed this on Monday, 24th May, disclosing their location in the Kati military camp, a few kilometres from Bamako.
“The president and prime minister are here in Kati on business,” a senior military official told newsmen.
Zimbabwe: Chief orders reburial for Mugabe
A Zimbabwean Chief has ordered the exhumation and reburial of former Zimbabwean president, Robert Mugabe’s at the national heroes’ shrine in Harare after accusing the late leader’s wife of breaking local custom by interring him at his rural home in 2019 – Reuters Africa reports
Mugabe was buried in his village of Kutama after weeks of dispute with Mnangagwa’s government over his final resting place.
A traditional chief in Zvimba district, which includes Kutama, said he had received a complaint from a Mugabe clan member over the manner of his burial.
Ghanaian activists call for release of LGBT members
Civil society organisations in West African nation, Ghana are calling for the release of 21 LGBT people who were arrested in the Volta Region of the country – BBC Africa reports
According to reports, civil society organisations would be holding a meeting in the town of Ho on Thursday,27th May, to discuss ways of protecting their rights in Ghana.
The police said they were arrested and detained for promoting an LGBT agenda at an unlawful assembly.

Reported deaths in Africa reached 128,393 and 4,263,307 people have recovered. South Africa has the most reported cases – 1,635,465 – and 55,802 people died. Other most-affected countries are Morocco ( 517,023), Tunisia (335,345), Ethiopia (269,194), Egypt (253,835), Libya (183,311) and Kenya (168,432).
